Week of 2/12-2/16

Here are the updates for this week:

1. Valentines Day: On Valentines Day (Wednesday) we will be having a small celebration at the end of the day. At this time, the kiddos can exchange Valentines and enjoy a small treat. I did not create a sign up for bringing in treats/snack items because I wanted to keep this small/low key. We will be doing some fun Valentine activities during the day and a fun Valentine science experiment with Mrs. Geiger's class!

If you would like to send in cookies, cupcakes, etc. feel free to send them in on Wednesday. I will be providing a small treat for the kids as well. Thank you!

We have 26 kids in our class. I have attached a roster to this email. Also, I would like the kids to bring in their own box/bag to collect Valentines in. They can decorate it at home however they want!

2. Book Bags: Please send in book bags this week if your child is ready for new books!

3. No School Friday 2/16 (Teacher Work Day) or Monday 2/19 for Presidents Day! Have a great 4 day weekend!

4. Sight Words and Reading Logs: Please make sure your child is accountable for practicing their sight words (and keeping track of their book) and filling out their monthly reading log.

5. Math: We will be finishing up Module 3 within the next week or so. Please look for a parent tip packet for Module 4 in Thursday Folders this week!

6. Spelling this week: Spelling words this week will have a Valentine theme! The test will be Thursday.

7. Our field trip is coming up on the 21st to Skate City! I believe I got permission slips from everyone...I will be sure to let you know if I have not received one this week. Please make sure you pay for the trip through the parent portal. I will be sending out more details about our trip and what the kids need to bring when the date gets closer. I will also be contacting chaperones about details as well.

8. Adopt a Classroom: Thank you so much to all of you who have donated to our Adopt a Classroom fundraiser! If you would still like to donate, please send in money in the envelope you received in your child's Thursday Folder by the 17th! We will be writing letters to the 2nd graders in Texas this week as part of our kindness themed Valentines week.
