About Ms. Parsons

My name is Kelly Parsons and I was born and raised in beautiful Colorado. I graduated from the University of Colorado at Denver where I earned my degree in Elementary Education. Teaching and learning have always been passions of mine. I love working with children and I pride myself on being a supportive, encouraging, and enthusiastic guide for children on their educational journeys. I have also always had a love for sports. Growing up, I played soccer for fourteen years, coached my little sister's soccer team, and I played basketball in high school. I also enjoy watching a good game of football. I absolutely love to do anything outdoors, whether it is running with my dog Ziva, hiking, yoga, skiing, drawing, or watching the sunset from my back patio. I am a health and wellness enthusiast and I earned my yoga instructor certification in Costa Rica. Incorporating yoga, fitness, and healthy decision making is something I love to do in the classroom. In addition, I am an avid animal lover. Over the past several years, I have volunteered and worked for the Denver Dumb Friends League Harmony Equine Center. There I was able to be an integral part in training, caring for, and rehabilitating abused and neglected horses.

I am very excited to build a caring and positive classroom community and I truly look forward to getting to know you and your child this coming year. I have your child’s best interest at heart and I believe every child can succeed. I strive to foster a caring classroom community where children feel safe, respected, loved, and successful. I also believe that every accomplishment, not matter how small, should be celebrated. Laughter and celebration are norms in my classroom, along with my three core values: resect, safety and accountability. Your child will be learning and growing so much this coming year and I always encourage you to be involved as well, because together, we can make second grade an unforgettable and special year for your child!

“Knowledge emerges only through invention and re-invention, through the restless, impatient, continuing, hopeful inquiry human beings pursue in the world, with the world, and with each other.”
