Week of 1/22-1/26

Happy snowy Sunday!

I hope everyone is staying warm! Only a few reminders for this week:

1. Book Bags: Please send your child's book bags back this week if you would like new books! I will be in touch with Stephanie on coming in this week to switch out books.

2. Reading Log: January reading logs will be due in a few weeks. Please make sure your child is being accountable and is filling out their reading logs. These are a big part of their reading work habits grade!

3. Mid Year DIBELS: As a class, the kid

dos really did an amazing job increasing their comprehension scores! If you recall, this was the area I have been stressing everyone practice at home. I was very pleased with how much everyone improved on their retells, so keep up the good work! Make sure you continue to ask your child to retell what they read at home to make sure they are understanding what they read.

Our main focus as a class will now be on fluency (how many words read per minute and how accurately your child reads) This is something we practice everyday in class in both whole group, guided reading, and independent practice. I often tell the kids, our goal is to read at the same pace we talk. A good way to practice this at home, is to have your child read the same text several times. Each time they read it, their fluency should improve!

4. We took a mid-module math test on Friday. These will hopefully be sent home in this week's Thursday Folders. We will keep chuggin away with Module 3.

5. We will be beginning our Forces and Motion science unit this week! Again, if anyone can donate spinning tops, bubbles, or super balls, that would be great! Thank you to those of you who have sent donations in already!

I hope everyone has a safe and great week!
