Welcome back Bobcats! I hope everyone had an amazing summer break! Just a few upcoming reminders for this week:
1. Wednesday 8-9-17:
The ice cream social will be this Wednesday from 2:30-3:30. Please come enjoy some ice cream and drop off your school supplies! Please do not label any supplies with your child's name. All organizing and labeling will be done by the kiddos in class on Thursday. Hope to see you there!
2. First Day:
On Thursday (first day of school) we are having a superhero theme! If your child has a superhero shirt, they are encouraged to wear one.
3. Website:
This website is your one stop shop for upcoming events, class information, our daily schedule, specials schedule, and links to our LES website. Mrs. Oldham's blog is also accessible from this site! I will rely on my blog to communicate any important information with you throughout the year. I will also send out emails as well. Email is my preferred form of direct communication. My email address is Kmparsons1@dcsdk12.org. If you prefer a different email or to be removed from the current class email list, please reach out to let me know!
4. The ever so important "snack time":
I really encourage building healthy lifestyle habits in my class. I allow students to eat snack anytime during the day as long as it is a minimal ingredient (5 or under), healthy snack! ie. apple slices, veggie sticks, health bars, etc. I like to coach my students on how to read ingredient labels and decipher if the food they are eating is in fact healthy or harmful to their bodies. Last year the kids made great decisions on the food they brought to class! They also enjoyed being able to eat whenever they wanted. If your child wants to bring a not so healthy snack, we will still have 2 designated snack times during the day. (See daily schedule) Water bottles are highly encouraged!!!
5. Supplies:
I sincerely appreciate you purchasing the needed supplies for this school year. I try to keep the kids as organized as possible! My supply list is still available online through my website. It is located under the "supply" tab.
6. Dress expectation reminder:
Being an outdoor learning school, please make sure your child comes to school appropriately dressed for the outdoors. This includes a jacket and tennis shoes. If your child wants to bring tennis shoes to change into during the day, they can keep them in their backpacks or in a bag labeled with their name.
I am so excited for another great 2nd Grade year at LES! I am thrilled to have the opportunity to get to know you and your child. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns about the first week! This year will be a great one!!!!
Sincerely,
Ms. Parsons
