Week 6!

Welcome September!!!

Fall is right around the corner! Time for cozy sweaters and hot tea :-) Things are moving right along in second grade. The kiddos have been having a blast and I am so blessed to have such a wonderful group this year! We have been diligently working on completing the review units in our Superkids Literacy program. Look for a note to be coming home this week that explains a bit more about our literacy program and what it entails. We have spent quite a bit of time reviewing skills we learned in first grade, and we will be diving into the core portion of our program in the next few weeks.

With that being said, more information will be sent out when we begin the first core unit in the program. With this, your student will begin to bring home a Superkids Backpack book. This will be the primary form of homework for the rest of the year. YOUR CHILD WILL HAVE SPELLING BEGINNING TOMORROW consistently for the rest of the year. Lists will come home in homework binders every Monday. Tests will then be every Friday. Students will have either list A or list B.

In addition, this week we will have Field Day on Friday, the 16th! Please send your child to school with appropriate clothing and shoes, a water bottle, snacks, and lunch as usual. The weather forecast is mid 70's for Friday, so light jackets might be needed (but we all know that could change). We will be outside the majority of the day!

Reminders will be emailed mid-week about Field Day.

On a last note, I am working on creating a class Instagram account so I can post photos and keep you updated with what we are doing in class. Please let me know if you would not like you child's photos posted. It is a private account, so only parents in the class can access it. Your feedback would be appreciated!
